Knoxville, TN – During tonight’s mayoral debate, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County and WATE-TV, Mark Padgett continued to focus on economic growth as the only way the city of Knoxville can afford to invest in quality of life issues – from sidewalks and parks to pension reform.
As the only candidate who understands the challenges and opportunities facing the business community, Mark reiterated the importance of growing Knoxville’s economy in his closing remarks:
“Tonight’s debate made clear once again that this election is really about three things: jobs, jobs, and jobs. Who can create them? Who can recruit them? And who can keep them in Knoxville? The only way we can grow Knoxville’s economy is by making our neighborhoods stronger, safer and more connected and by making city government more efficient, transparent, and accessible. That’s what I’m going to do for Knoxville – every minute of every day.
“I’m honored by the support and reception I received tonight. From knocking on doors to attending community events, my campaign is going to continue to work tirelessly throughout every corner of the city. I urge everyone to make their voice heard and take advantage of early voting, which starts tomorrow.”
Early voting starts tomorrow, September 7. To request an absentee ballot or find polling locations, please visit: http://votepadgett.com/news/74/.
