Padgett Leads Democratic Primary
Best Positioned to Win in November
NASHVILLE - U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Padgett leads his Democratic opponents in name ID and has the best chance to beat Senator Alexander in November, according to a recent poll conducted by Ayres, McHenry & Associates.
"We'’ve only been in this race for a week and are clearly gaining the trust and support of Tennesseans who want new representation in Washington," Padgett said. "Senator Alexander has been running for practically every office on the ballot over the past 30 years, but voters are making it clear they are ready for a change.
"Tennesseans are tired of business as usual in Washington. They are ready for a fresh voice. If they stand with me, we will bring change to Washington," Padgett said.
William "Mike" Padgett is former Knox County Clerk and small business owner. He and Patty, his wife of 37 years, have three grown children, Matt, Mark and Sara Beth

Sen. Lamar Alexander enjoys a 68 percent approval rating among Tennesseans and would handily defeat two of his possible Democratic challengers in a poll circulated by Alexander’s reelection effort.
The Ayres, McHenry & Associates poll surveyed 600 registered voters from March 5-9. Of those 600, 32 percent were Republicans, 29 percent Independents and 39 percent Democrats.
In the poll, 68 percent said they approved of Alexander’s performance as U.S. Senator with 17 percent disapproval.
In addition, Alexander’s two most well-known Democratic challengers, Bob Tuke and Mike Padgett, are not well-known in Tennessee.
According to the poll, just 14 percent of Tennesseans know who Tuke, a former Democratic Party chairman, is while Padgett, a former Knox County clerk, is known by 19 percent.
Alexander would defeat both Tuke and Padgett easily in the poll (59 percent to 28 percent against Tuke and 58 percent to 31 percent against Padgett).
