Padgett Files to Run for U.S. Senate
Ready to Fight the Status Quo
NASHVILLE – Mike Padgett filed documents on Wednesday with the State of Tennessee to officially run for the Democratic nomination for United States Senate. Padgett will be running for the seat currently held by Senator Alexander.
“It’s time for a U.S. Senator with the courage to stand up and fight against the status quo in Washington. Tennessee deserves a Senator who will not just be part of business as usual in Washington but who will go to work – just like most Tennesseans have to do – every day to find real solutions to the problems that hit families the hardest,” Padgett said.
“We can’t continue to give tax breaks to the richest of the rich while middle-class families in this country are fighting just to stay on their feet,” Padgett said. “I will fight for real tax relief for the working men and women who are hit the hardest by gas prices, mortgage foreclosures, huge medical bills and all the other results of business as usual in Washington.”
Padgett has more than 20 years of experience as a public servant, working daily with the citizens of Knox County. “I know how tough their lives can be,” Padgett said.
William "Mike" Padgett is former Knox County Clerk and small business owner. He and Patty, his wife of 37 years, have three grown children, Matt, Mark and Sara Beth
