MEMPHIS TEAMSTERS ENDORSE PADGETT FOR SENATE
Locals 1196, 984 announce their endorsement in Democratic primary
MEMPHIS - Two powerful Teamsters locals in Memphis endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Mike Padgett.
Teamsters Local 1196, headed by Nate Jackson, and Teamsters Local 984, headed by Terry Lovan, both are supporting Padgett in the Aug. 7 primary. Henry Perry, president of Local 667, announced his endorsement for Padgett last week.
ÒWith jobs as the keystone of my campaign, I am honored to have the support of Teamsters in Memphis,Ó Padgett said. ÒMy father-in-law was a member of the Teamsters in Knoxville, so the union tradition is a proud part of our family.
ÒWith Tennessee unemployment up a full percentage point in June, more and more Tennesseans are worried about their own jobs. With erosion like this in the workplace, unions like the Teamsters have never mattered more.
ÒI am glad to have their help on election day, but they will be even more important to me as I work in the Senate to bring more decent-paying jobs to Tennessee.Ó
William "Mike" Padgett is former Knox County Clerk and small business owner. He and Patty, his wife of 37 years, have three grown children, Matt, Mark and Sara Beth
