PADGETT ANNOUNCES FOR US SENATE
Asks Tennesseans to "Stand With Me"

KNOXVILLE – Mike Padgett today formally kicked off his campaign for United States Senate.

Padgett, who had recently retired from public service, cited his desire to be a voice of change for the people of Tennessee as a reason for running.

"I have been talking to Tennesseans from all three grand divisions of the state and the one thing I keep hearing from people is that they are ready for a fresh voice in Washington," Padgett said. "If you are tired of business as usual and think we need a change, then send me to Washington."

"Some people say that more of the same is fine, Lamar Alexander has been telling Tennesseans that for decades. Well, I don't believe we can afford more of the same anymore. Its time for a change in Washington and that change starts right here," he stated.

Padgett added, "If you believe that Tennessee deserves better and that we can do better, then stand with me."

Padgett was first elected to the Knox County School Board in 1984 then as Knox County Clerk in 1986, a position he held for over 20 years. Prior to serving in elected office Mike was a small business owner, he founded and operated Homestead Restaurant and Catering. A Knox County native and graduate of Rule High School, Padgett earned his B.S. from Calvary College in Letcher, KY. He is an ordained deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Knoxville.

Padgett, 59, is married with three adult children.
